Last year ended with a very exciting American Geophysical Union conference in New Orleans, where several members of the MARVEL team presented work on the use of the MARSIS and SHARAD radar sounders to find what lies beneath the vast plains of Lunae Planum on Mars, and networked with colleagues. Among the highlights of the conference was a visit to the LIGO facility in nearby Livingston - how great to be where the first glimpse of gravitational waves happened!
Since the beginning of 2018 several Australia-based members of MARVEL have been engaged in delivering lectures and workshops and generally having great interaction with the International Space University Southern Hemisphere Space Studies Program awesome class of 2018. The program of core lectures, workshops, and group missions has now concluded, but the participants are still heavy at work with the preparation of their team reports. The research carried out by the MARVEL team members has been presented in many topics, including Mars, Terrestrial Planets, and activities such as mapping the Martian surface.
It is early to know what the rest of 2018 has in store for MARVEL and its members, but there will be some exciting changes, so keep checking these pages. In the meantime, we wish all and everyone a great 2018!
